Nationally recognized program started by two volunteers from Marion, IA in 1989. Largest privately funded statewide tree-planting organization in the U.S. Participates in state-wide community programs, rural initiatives, education and outreach, and awards programs.
COUNCIL BLUFFS
Council Bluffs Trees Forever at work
Started in 1991 with an $11,000 grant from the National program. Articles of Incorporation for Council Bluffs signed on Jan. 22, 1993 by a committee of five members. Chapter includes concerned citizens representing schools, businesses, government, utilities and the general public. Since 1991, the Council Bluffs group has worked on a wide variety of project sites including schools, parks and public property.
Members
- Members are selected at large from Pottawattamie County
- Members serve a term of one, two or three years and are eligible for re-election without limitation.
- Membership will consist of 25 members. If membership falls below 25, the membership committee may add members at anytime during the year.
- After three consecutive unexcused absences, a board member’s position may be terminated. To avoid this, members are asked to notify an officer prior to missing a meeting.
Membership Goals
- To implement and support the mission of Trees Forever.
- To provide advice and counsel to Trees Forever partners.
- To provide a means of community input and leadership in regards to tree programs.
- To assist and support Trees Forever projects.
