About US

Trees Forever is a nationally recognized program started by two volunteers from Marion, Iowa in 1989. It is the largest privately funded statewide tree-planting organization in the U.S. www.treesforever.org  

Trees Forever, Inc. is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, as designated by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

Council Bluffs Trees Forever

Council Bluffs Trees Forever started in 1991 with a grant from the national Trees Forever program. The mission is to develop, encourage and bring about projects that will make Council Bluffs a better place to live. 

Meetings are held at 8 a.m. on the second Wednesday of every month at Veridian Credit Union, 2040 West Broadway, Council Bluffs.


  • Members are selected at large from Pottawattamie County.
  • Members serve a term of one, two or three years and are eligible for re-election without limitation.
  • Membership will consist of up to 25 members. If membership falls below 25, the membership committee may add members at anytime during the year.
  • After three consecutive unexcused absences, a board member’s position may be terminated. To avoid this, members are asked to notify an officer prior to missing a meeting.

Membership Goals

  • To implement and support the mission of Trees Forever.
  • To provide advice and counsel to Trees Forever partners.
  • To provide a means of community input and leadership in regards to tree programs.
  • To assist and support Trees Forever projects.
